Hi, I'm Julie ... artist, photographer, potter, etc. I am so happy you are here! I consider this blog my creative journal where I can share my recent work, ideas and dreams, and lots of little details about my life. Please make yourself at home. Whether you are a bride-to-be, a photographer, or just a visitor, I hope you will find inspiration here and even become a friend. |
As I look back over the weddings I have photographed this year I am so proud. Not because the pictures are gorgeous and because I am so great at taking them. But I am proud of these people. I am proud to have worked so closely with each of them and their dearest friends and family. These weddings were planned to include loved ones and not focused on impressing them. Instead of extravagant decor I witnessed extravagant love, real connections, and quite little miracles. As unique as each event was, they were all designed with sentiment and personal meaning. No expectations of perfection, but people finding joy when things didn't go as expected. The constant theme was a focus on true commitment and family love. I am so honored to have been a part of each one of these couple's beautiful weddings. Thank you so much to each of you for welcoming me like a family member. I will never forget any of you.
The year began with a trip to Arizona. Carol and Brad were married in Phoenix at an eclectic little place called The Boojum Tree, a venue with just as much personality and kook as this crazy fun couple.
In March Brian and Megan got married at a sweet little farm in Gatlinburg, The Barn at Chestnut Springs.
Elise and Sam's spring wedding in Knoxville was full of heart and creativity. Which is exactly what I expected from a gorgeous bride who was a previous art school class mate and former director of the Knoxville Center of Arts and Fine Crafts.
Lauren and Rollin's engagement session on UT campus ... wait until you see the wedding ...
Megan and Aaron's simply elegant wedding at Castleton Farms ... the most loving and beautiful bunch of bridesmaids I've ever seen!
Abi and Oliver's day at Arrowmont Art School in Gatlinburg ... full of the Gatlinburg staples: Ole Smoky Moonshine, Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen.
Amy and Bill's engagement at Whitestone Country Inn
Meagan and Greg and their downtown Knoxville party wedding at The Oliver and The Emporium
And another fabulous downtown Knoxville wedding at the KMA with Lauren and Rollin ... and all that gorgeous decor by Scott Morrell.
A perfect little engagement session at Cades cove with Meagan and Ryan ... looking forward to their wedding in Gatlinburg in June 2017.
Amy and Bill's wedding at Whitestone Country Inn
And then the trip to New York to photograph Stephanie and Nick's engagement session and wedding in Brooklyn. I'm still not over it.
Aby and Cody's wedding in Lexington, KY at the Manchester Music Hall and The Grand Reserve was brimming with sweet emotion and so much family love.
And I got to end my year of weddings just after Christmas with this lovely couple, Rebecca and Bob at my place in the whole state of Kentucky: Snug Hollow Farm
