What was the most emotional part of the day for you?
When Jason came upstairs before the wedding and we were able to take a few minutes to be with each other.
Seeing Lindsay for the first time that day. She was the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen!
What were you most looking forward to about your wedding day?
Seeing each other for the first time that day, saying our vows, kissing as husband and wife and being surrounded by our friends and family!
How did the two of you meet?
I (Lindsay) moved to Nashville in 2005 and worked for a public policy firm and spent most of my time at the Capitol. Jason worked for the Governor at the time, so we got to know each other and developed a friendship.
Was there a moment when you knew you were in love?
I (Lindsay) knew that my curious interest that turned into a crush was turning into more when I didn’t care where I was going or who was going to be there, I knew I would have more fun if Jason was with me!
I (Jason) think that for me it was when I realized that seeing Lindsay’s smile was the best part of my day!
Describe the proposal:
We planned to celebrate our 2-yr first date anniversary by going to a nice dinner. We had decided we weren’t exchanging gifts, but I had a little something for Jason and let him know the day of that I would have a gift for him. He faked astonishment and admitted that he had “a little something” for me, too. When I got to his house, there were roses on the table and I thought, “Well, isn’t this nice!” Little did I know that before we left for dinner, he would propose with the sweetest card and most beautiful ring I had ever seen.
After smiles, hugs, tears and kisses, I called my parents to let them know the big news! It was so special to find out that Jason had spent the day before driving to Knoxville to talk to my parents!
Tell us about your wedding music choices (ceremony, first dance, etc)
I seated my mom to “What a Wonderful World” after we lit a torch in memory of my dad. That was one of his favorite songs.
We recessed to the “Tennessee Waltz” because that’s our State Song, and our relationship began in the halls of the state capitol.
Any unexpected surprises on the day-of?
We knew that the grounds where we got married were beautiful, but when everything was in place and the flowers were added, it was even more beautiful than we had imagined.
We were also pretty amazed and very touched that so many of our friends and family took the time and made the effort to be there to celebrate with us.
Lindsay wanted to be surprised for our first dance. I chose “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison because, in addition to being a great song, it describes the way she loves with her whole being and the way she makes everything better!
What next for you as a couple?
Making a home together and living happily ever after!
