Creative :: A little something about LOVE ... Oh, and another give away!

Regarding the revival of my business I have a very big announcement to make!  This one comes from the deepest part of my heart as an artist, photographer, and human ... so I am heavy with anxiety, excitement, and nerves as I type all of this out! 

My business is seven years old this month.  Happy Birthday little biz of mine ... you are in for some big changes!!!!  It all started as a tearful conversation with my business mentor - who also happens to be my husband :)  ABOUT how frustrated I felt with situations A, B, and C (I'll be vague about those details because that's not the good part).  The good part ... is that Nick's response was short, insensitive, to the point ... and it jolted me.  "It sounds like you need a new business." 

"Let those words marinate for a moment before you freak out, Julie.  He is right."   That's me talking to myself.  I do that occasionally.

So yeah, I didn't just need a new business ... but my business mind needed a revival.  A fresh start.  A spotless canvas.  (Isn't Easter the perfect time to announce this ... I totally just put that together ... God is awesome!)

Let me also rewind for just a moment and make clear that Julie Roberts Photography isn't really going anywhere.  I have a great thing here ... and I don't want to lose what I have built.  I will still continue to do family portraits and weddings under this brand.  In fact, I'll be sharing more families here instead of just weddings.  That's good.

So the big announcement is that I have essentially TWO new businesses ... Creative Revival (which I've already announced) and Love Alive (which I'm announcing now).

I'll be sharing these sessions in full on the blog a little later ... and I will share more of the testimonials too.  For now here are some pictures ...

So we'll have a new website to go along with Love Alive ... all of that is in the works but I couldn't wait to make the announcment.  I just feel so proud and humbled at the same time.  Love Alive is a gift that I believe God gave me.  I can not take credit for it's power and beauty.  I really feel like I am just a vessel meant to carry this gift and it is my joy to share it with the world around me.  It's for newly engaged couples or couples who have a history ... either way the experience lends itself to the individuality of any love relationship.  As I type this I feel like this is a jumble of words that may not make any sense.  Also you should know I am practically weeping behind this keyboard over here.  I just love this work so much.

So that's the announcment and here is the give-away.  I want to give away a free Love Alive session to a deserving couple.  But there's a little criteria ... and a message with a little controversy (no better way to start a new business, in my opinion ) ...

I've been seeing this image every where lately ... and I have a little something to say about it.

That's not always easy but it's way easier than being the judge.  We are not the judges people!!!!   I also want to point out that, according to Matthew, Jesus made that statement.  The Bible is full of really weird rules, stories, and statements ... and I get mixed up when I dig around too much.  So I just always bring myself back to Jesus ... his life ... his words ... his love for God and people.  That is the precedent.

Alright, so I got a little religious.  Whatever.  Let me just get to the point here.  I want to give away a free Love Alive to a deserving same-sex couple.  This is my way of sharing my support of the gay community and spreading the message of love and equality.  How to enter to win ... just email me your story or the story of someone you know ... and why you want to do a Love Alive session.  Please include a picture and a virtual hug for me.  julie@julierobertsphoto.com
