Family :: Heather and Rock :: Happily Ever After Session :: Lexington KentuckyThis gorgeous couple ... Rock and Heather Daniels ... got married earlier this year in Charleston. Because they had a "destination wedding" they opted not to do any engagement pictures. That's how I came into the picture six months later ... what's better than some casual images with the one you love most to remind you how great marriage is?!
The great thing about photography in the "beloved" style is that I have the opportunity to make a very genuine connections with couples I'm photographing. This makes living and working in a new city a lot less scary! Heather and Rock were amazing and so much fun to photograph. We practically spent a whole day together and it was just beautiful weather, sweet moments, and celebrating marriage. I guess I can count them as my first new friends since the move.
We started their session at Gratz Park. This little community is nestled right in the middle of downtown Lexington and its full of historical and beautiful sites like the
Gratz Park Inn,
Transylvania University, and
The Hunt Morgan House (where I'm so excited to be shooting a wedding this May). In fact, that adorable backdrop is Mayor Jim Gray's house.
Heather's make-up looked so fresh and beautiful. It's such a good idea to trust a pro with this task when you're having photos done. Heather's make-up was done by the fabulous and adorable
Ana Crane-Simpson. She is one of Lexington's premier on-location make-up artists. And she really is a true artist. It was such an honor to work with her!
About halfway through the session we hopped over to another side of downtown ... closer to where Heather and Rock currently live ... and finished up the session at The Henry Clay Home also known as
Ashland. Nick took me on a tour of the home and grounds as one of our first dates so I remembered the property and was so excited to do some photos there. I can't say enough how much I love exploring all the new locations here.
Heather and Rock's baby girls Maggie and Sophie joined us for a few full family portraits. Furry happy babies make me smile and these two were the awesome-est.
Thank you Heather and Rock! You guys are beautiful and it was such a joy to photograph you!
