Engagement :: She held her heart when she showed me the ring :: Greta and AaronMy dear, sweet, precious best friend Greta Clark is engaged.
How do I even begin to share this story? The tears are already streaming down my cheek and I'm only two sentences in. I could tell a million stories about how this girl became the best friend a friend could have. She is just the most real, most tender, most trusted, most precious, most sincere, most giggly, most heart touching person you'll ever meet. At my recent wedding she took a hold of me and said in my ear "Do you know every person here loves you? Do you feel all this love?" And it was just a comment like that from her that reminded me that she is one that I will always keep close. Because no matter what, she always lets people know that they are loved.
And now, its her turn to feel all the love.
So I put the bug in Aaron's ear about possibly photographing his propsal and he was all in. We plotted and schemed secretly for weeks ... months even! And no one had a clue. And I am so proud of my secret keeping skills!
Aaron began Saturday morning with a list of instructions for Greta. And he posted most of it on facebook so everyone was watching the updates to see what would happen next. He took her to buy her three new charms for her pandora bracelet ... then to her favorite italian place for lunch ... among other surprises. Little did she know that in the mean time, this little scene was taking place.
With the help of my mom and a few other magical people ... we prepared a sweet little picnic at Watauga Lake. The flowers below were done by my friend Stacey with
Blooming Earth Flowers. I caught her that morning at the
Market Square Farmer's Market and she just whipped this gorgeous little bouquet right up! The darling little cuppy cakes were done by my friend Angel Adkins. They were actually taster samples for the real wedding cake.
Aaron gave me specific instructions to find their "spot" at
Watauga Point. And it was perfectly breezy and the view was lovely. Ahh ... Watauga Point!
Yes, he had her blind folded every step of the way!
And I hid behind a tree.
I thought it was so funny and adorable that Aaron promptly stopped to take Greta's picture after he had her in the perfect spot. If he was nervous ... I certainly couldn't tell. He didn't miss a beat. I, on the other hand was shaking like a leaf with excitement, nerves, and tears too of course.
Of course, she said "yes!"
My mom took some pictures too ... that's her perspective on the left.
Greta heard my camera clicking and discovered me behind the tree. I might be good at keeping secrets, but I am not the best at hiding.
She showed me her new bracelet charms and then she held her heart when she showed me the ring. She's said "It feels so good!"
Then we took a few minutes to snap some cutie portraits.
Then my mom and I left so they could share their picnic and take it all in.
(pardon the nicknames)
Dear Grettle and Arab ... Words truly can't express how happy I am for both of you. It was one of my greatest joys to get to be a part of this day. My heart is just over flowing with love for you both. Arab, thank you so much for including me and Grettle thank you so much for loving me and always being one of the best friends I could ever have. You both deserve the happiest, giggliest, trouble free life and I can't wait to see you have it together.
