Welcome to my Blog

Hi, I'm Julie ... artist, photographer, potter, etc. I am so happy you are here! I consider this blog my creative journal where I can share my recent work, ideas and dreams, and lots of little details about my life. Please make yourself at home. Whether you are a bride-to-be, a photographer, or just a visitor, I hope you will find inspiration here and even become a friend.

Engagement :: Jonathan East and Brooke Cenicola - Engaged! Knoxville Wedding Photography

I met Jonathan and Brooke a few weeks ago when they came to my home/office for their wedding consultation. I knew right away that they were really special. I can't exactly say that it was something specific - their cute style, their friendliness, their attention to the little things - it was all of that and something else.

When Brooke began to describe the process of planning their wedding she got teary eyed. Much like the way they have fallen in love with each other ... the plans for their wedding have been easy. Easy!?! So rarely do I meet with brides-to-be who tell me how easy everything has been. I always hear about the difficulty ... the stress ... the details that just won't work out. But for Brooke and Jonathan a different story all together. Out of the clear blue sky things have just simply fallen into place. And any component that has come as an obstacle they simply said no and went another direction. Sure enough everything has come together and their wedding this June is going to be nothing short of beautiful.

My favorite thing was that Brooke compared this easy planning to her relationship with Jonathan: how they met, how they fell in love, how from the very beginning its been so easy. I have always heard it said that relationships are hard and making them work is hard. But after the past year of my life I couldn't agree less with that statement. Being in love is really good and I believe that it should be easy. Its not always perfect but it shouldn't be a constant struggle.

Maybe I am getting too personal. But I don't mind. I love my work and it is very personal to me. I think I am a better photographer because I make what I do personal and I relate to my clients and their experiences. I loved meeting with Brooke and Jonathan. I knew that we were a good match. They are wildly, madly, perfectly in love with each other. And I can relate to how they feel. I am so happy that I can do that!

Also I'd like to mention that Jonathan and Brooke are performers. They currently work at Dollywood and they are incredibly talented and have personalities as big as the sun. I definitely wanted to bring that out in their session. I also wanted to showcase the tender truth of their love relationship. Something that I am going to focus on more this year is bringing more individuality to people's sessions. I think you'll agree when you see these images that it was definitely a success with these two.

The little tea set came from my kitchen ... but it matched them perfectly. The little bunny is a symbol of spring and as Brooke so aptly pointed out "FERTILITY!"

They were singing and harmonizing together ... and I was just wandering around enjoying the show!

The cards were totally their idea and they were perfect. I didn't really give Brooke any direction and I caught her doing adorable things like this. Actors are SO fun to photograph!

The next little set once again just showcases what a pair of characters these two are. I laughed and laughed ...

One more talent to the list ... Jonathan also plays a mean harmonica.

The engagement ring is a pair of celtic knots (honoring Jonathan's Irish heritage) brought together by a central stone representing God. Beautiful.

A third clothing change because they had way too many fun outfits to only pick two.

A tender moment and some back light.

Nothing is better than four shades of plaid, some cowboy boots, a bunch of weeds and perfect light.
